During the Soviet era, Soussamir Valley was a major grazing centre where nomads brought massive herds of sheep and horses to pasture.

Since then, the valley's fertile lands have revealed agricultural potential, with farmers cultivating potatoes, garlic and vegetables.

While renowned among nomads for its vast pastures, Soussamir Valley also draws travellers with its immense green expanses bathed in peaceful atmosphere. With mountains stretching to the horizon, tumultuous rivers and sprawling plains, Suussamir promises one of the most rewarding off-the-beaten-path treks. In the distance, you'll glimpse the highest peaks crowned with eternal snow.

In summer, you'll encounter numerous herds of sheep and horses, as well as yurt camps where you can stop to purchase and taste local specialities such as kurut (small balls of salted yoghurt) or Kymyz (fermented mare's milk).

From Bishkek, shared taxis make the journey to Soussamir Valley. The drive takes approximately 4 hours.
