SatyEnglish-speaking local guide

To Lacs Kolsay

2h110 km

Nestled in the heart of the Kolsaï gorge, just 10 km from the Kyrgyz border, the Kolsaï lakes are among Kazakhstan's most beautiful natural treasures. Nicknamed the "Pearl of the Northern Tian Shan", they form a set of three mountain lakes with crystal-clear waters, tiered at 1,818 m, 2,252 m and 2,850 m altitude.

During this excursion, you discover the first two lakes. You first reach the lower Kolsaï lake, whose turquoise waters reflect the surrounding coniferous forests and mountain peaks. You then continue with a pleasant hike to the shores of the second lake, even wilder and more pristine.

The third lake, called Upper Kolsaï and located at 2,850 m altitude, is situated in a regulated border area. Its access requires obtaining a special permit and is generally not open to visitors.

To enter Kyrgyzstan, your passport must be valid for a minimum of six months from the date of entry and must contain at least one blank page for immigration stamps.
The document must be in good condition (no damaged, torn, or altered pages).

Tourism entry requirements

Entry requirements for tourism stays depend on your nationality and the applicable bilateral agreements between Kyrgyzstan and your country of citizenship.

It is advisable to keep a copy of the registration certificate, which may be requested during police checks or when leaving the territory.

  • typhoid and hepatitis A, due to local sanitary conditions,
