How to choose your trip to Kyrgyzstan?
The choice depends first on duration. A trip of less than 10 days requires trade-offs: either the northern loop (Bishkek, Issyk-Kul, Song-Köl), or exploring the south around Osh and the Alai valley. Our 13 to 17-day trips allow you to combine the two main regions, with nights in yurts and high-altitude trekking. For those wanting to add central Tian Shan, Tash Rabat and a 4-day horseback trek, 18 days and more itineraries are the right length. Beyond that, we open up to Lenin Peak or extensions into neighboring Uzbekistan.
Different types of trips
Our cultural trips emphasize nomadic life, the bazaars of Osh and Karakol, the petroglyphs of Cholpon-Ata and the caravanserais of the Silk Road. Adventure itineraries include horseback trekking around Song-Köl, hiking in Jyrgalan, moderate ascents in the Tian Shan and high-altitude camps. For family trips, we prioritize nights in yurts with equestrian demonstrations, easy walks in Ala-Archa park and Issyk-Kul beaches, accessible from age 8.
What is the best season?
The travel season runs from mid-June to early September. It's the only period when yurts are set up on the jailoo and all passes are open. Temperatures range between 20 and 25°C at altitude during the day, 5 to 10°C at night at 3,000 meters. July-August remains peak season; mid-June and early September offer equivalent conditions with fewer crowds. Before June and after September, the high plateaus become inaccessible, but Bishkek, Issyk-Kul and the lower valleys remain accessible until October.
