The Achik-Tash base camp serves as a meeting point for mountaineers tackling Lenin Peak in Kyrgyzstan. Here you'll find everything needed for acclimatization: tent accommodation, meals, rescue services, and relaxation areas. The site also attracts travelers who simply wish to admire the summit without attempting the ascent.

Staying at Achik-Tash Base Camp

Nestled at 4,000 meters altitude on the Achik-Tash plateau, in the heart of the northern Tien Shan, the camp occupies the convergence point of the South Inylchek Glacier and the Zvezdochka Glacier. Several expedition operators specializing in Lenin Peak climbs work from this location. The camp comprises numerous tents and a few yurts.

You'll sleep in two-person tents, each equipped with two beds, well-insulated sleeping bags, and cozy blankets. Electric lighting and power supply complete the amenities.

The camp offers various services: small shop, sauna, hot shower, disco, satellite telephone, and television. Meals are served in a large dining tent featuring regular traditional dishes, including plov. Tea, coffee, and beverages are available, along with a bar serving beer and spirits. WiFi is accessible in the dining tent and covers the rest of the station.

A rescue team is on hand to assist climbers in difficulty. You can rely on a doctor, experienced mountaineers, and qualified rescuers.

Opening Season

The opening period depends on the climbing season, generally running from June to September.

Rates

Nightly accommodation costs $30 USD per person. The rate includes three meals, tea or coffee, and hot water for both drinking and washing.

The camp is accessible by car. It is located one hour's drive from Sary Mogol, which itself lies approximately three hours' drive from the Kyrgyz capital.
